Our Manatee Encounter December 28, 2013
You know it's going to be a good day when you arrive at the boat ramp and the Manatees are already swimming by... We had a Momma and Baby around us for the longest time, it's like she was teaching him about kayakers LOL. There was lots of other wildlife too and babies of all sorts. The Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Great Blues and Little Blue Herons were all out fishing and the Cormorants were fishing right in front of our yaks. When the warm air started to lift off of the river the Vultures caught the thermal and played games in the sky. We got to see lots of Turtles out sunning, White Ibis hanging out and we had a dual Wood Stork flyby. As we entered Snake Creek the baby Alligators were there to greet us and then we saw this little tiny tike...he's a baby River Cooter Turtle... no bigger than the palm of your hand ;-).
