The more you look the more you see! Just as we started our tour of the St Johns River and Blue Springs we spotted a sunning Alligator perched on the river bank. The next critter in view was a Wood Stork dancing around at the shoreline. Limpkins were calling to each other, Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, Green and Tri-colored Herons were all part of our day as were Red-bellied Turtles with youngsters, Great and Snowy Egrets, White Ibis and Moorhens.
As we kayaked into the clear waters of Blue Springs State Park it was like someone opened a window below us and we could see Longnose Garfish, Tilapia, Bass and Grass Carp swimming below our kayaks. We saw our first Scarlet Hibiscus of the season blooming and the Bastard Indigo, Button Bush and Spatterdock blooms gave us a splash of color too. With beautiful blue skies and a great crew to kayak with it was an awesome day on the river!
